I am planning to do something really crazy this coming week (starting tomorrow). I will spend every night of the coming seven nights outside of my home. At 1900h, I get out with the bicycle, and do not come back in until 0700h. That way, I can loiter around the city at night, see what goes on with the people who have no home, and basically get to experience it a bit while I actually have a choice. (Because then it is fun; if I were truly homeless, I would not want to do it.)
I will think of it as “field research” for no particular purpose. But I am genuinely curious how people who have no homes in this city spend their nights. Now the rainy season is early, and the rains are inconsistent; what does this mean for them? I know we have some few—not as many as the other big cities, but they are there—and because of my own features and style, I would blend in without problems. I will carry only coins as money, and I will also have my dagger—of course; I always have a weapon on me. I’m still trying to work up the courage for it. What’s sure is that I won’t generally have as good a time to experience this and to carry out such a “research” mission.
