A Debt Into Eternity

The movie Into Eternity helps make the point for me that nuclear energy is just a debt that the present civilisation takes from the future, and has no way of paying back.
In the view of the future, it is a bad debt. In the view of the present, it is a boon; free energy. Like a loan that doesn’t have to be paid back.

Or, of course, the argument could be made that the developments we achieve with this energy will benefit the future, and such that we sell these developments to the future at the fair price of letting it deal with our nuclear waste.
